R. Biglow, born somewhere in Canada 1843, died 1917 in Jackson co.
Iowa,
married a Sarah Liston.. I just got back from Iowa and found the grave,
and
that he was born in canada, any help you can give me see photo of
grave.Somewhere
between his death and my grandfather the (e) was attached to Bigelow
Thanks Jack Bigelow..I have placed Richard here for now until more
evidence..ROD

Richard R. Bigelow, listed as son of Samuel Bigelow and either
Rebecca
Cox or Susanna Barkwell, was born 1843 in
Ontario and died 1917 in Jackson co., IA. He married Sarah A.
Liston
1860-1918. Jack sent a picture of his gravestone,
however, which clearly shows the dates. Jack Bigelow is a
descendant
and sent the information. He had just returned from Iowa and had
found
this grave of his ancestor. More information may find he is
placed here
in error. This Richard R. Bigelow, b. 1843 and wife, had another child,
"Unknown
Bigelow, born 2 Dec 1882."
e-mail from Jack states Richard's father was killed in an Indian
massacre
1849 on his way to the gold rush. Our record of Samuel's son
Richard, states Samuel died 6 Jun 1875. Another reason he is here
temporarily.
Forge article 10/1999 page 75, Vol. 28 #4, indicates Richard R. may be
in
the correct place, but no proof.

Given the above information, I believe I have found James listed in The
Bigelow Family Genealogy, Volume I, Page 110 and 229; however, there
are MAJOR discrepancies that will need to be resolved if he is indeed
Richard's father - his son Richard's middle name (Oliver vs R) and
Richard's wife listed as Hannah Brennan vs Sarah Liston. IF this
James 6 is correct, we know that he was the son of Josiah 5, the son of
Jotham 4, the son of John 3 (my ancestor!), the son of Samuel 2, the
son of John 1 who is believed to be the immigrant ancestor of all
Bigelow's/Biglow's in North America. John 1 came to Watertown, MA
from Wrentham, Suffolk County, England in 1632. (Note that the
number denotes the generation from John 1 the immigrant ancestor.)
