James 6 BIGELOW

16352.3     James 6 BIGELOW, son of Jonathan 5( Asa 4, Lieut. John 3, Joshua 2, John 1) , and Elizabeth (OTIS) BIGELOW, was born 16 Mar 1764 at Colchester, New London co, CT. He married on 13 Nov 1783, Anna DAY, (she born circa 1763 according to her headstone, being 62 at her death 25 Oct 1825) daughter of Noah and Ann (LOOMIS) DAY. (see below) They lived a few years in Colchester, then moved to Whately, Franklin co, MA, then to Poplar Hill until 1802, when they moved to Colchester once more, and settled at the old homestead on Bulkley Hill. She died Colchester 25 Oct 1825, he on 23 Nov 1840.
..... Their headstones are pictured above in the Cochester Common Cemetery. Pic # 3 of June 1996. They are the two prominent stones in the center foreground. James is to the left and says: " In Memory of; James Bigelow; died Nov 23, 1840; age 76". His wife is to the right and says: "In Memory of; Anna Bigelow; wife of James Bigelow; died Oct 25, 1825; age 62 yrs".

1790 census: CT - New London - Colchester - James Bigelow: 1-0-3-0-0.

James 6 Bigelow [16352.3] came from Connecticut, married Anna Day, lived at the junction of Easter and Poplar Hill roads. The buildings, except the barn, have been gone for fifty years. Several chidren born in Whately: James jr., Charles D., Nancy (m Mr. Watrous), Jonathan, Betsy (m Mr. Niles).

Hi Rod,
 My wife descends from Robert Day.  I have information on the parents and lineage of Anna Day, wife of James Bigelow (1764 - 1840) if you are interested.  Her parents were Noah Day and Ann Loomis.  I didn't know if you already have the information and just
haven't posted it, if you don't have it, or if it's a family that you're not really interested in.  But I thought I'd make contact with you in case you'd be interested.
Let me know if you would like more info., including her birthdate, etc.
I really enjoyed visiting your page.  The cemetery pictures are a very  nice touch.
