Scott Sydney 9 BIGELOW

1592C.1526      Scott Sydney 9 BIGELOW, son of John Emerson 8 (Ebenezer 7 , Ebenezer 6 ,  Amasa 5 , Isaac 4, Isaac 3, Samuel 2, John1)  and  Hannah (BLENKHORN) BIGELOW, was born 21 November 1874 at Canning, Kings co, NS.  He married (1) 06 May 1901 Anna Clara Guide. She was born 14 December 1841 at Muskegon, MI, and died 17 August 1915 at Trochu, Alberta, Canada. They had three children. He married (2) ca 1917 Amy Bernice Chisholm, the daughter of Robert Owen and Florence Nightingale Arabella (Bishop) Chisolm. She was born 26 December 1885 at Grand Pre', Nova Scotia and died 20 February 1956 at Norwalk, CT. Scott died 19 November 1965 at Norwalk.  They had one child:

1592C.15261   Lillian Gertrude 10 Bigelow, daughter of Scott Sydney (etc) and Anna Clara (Guide) Bigelow, was born 22 April 1907, Chicago, Cook co, IL.  On 30 March 1929 she married at New Rochelle, NY to Lester Harry Shaw, son of Daniel J. and Emme (Huntley) Shaw.  Lester was born 14 January 1907 at Scotts Bay, NS, Canada and died 15 September 1985 at Waterbury, CT.  He was buried 18 September 1985, Norwalk,CT.  Lillian died 02 January 1987, Norwalk, CT and was buried 06 January 1987 at Norwalk, CT.

1592C.15262    Nora Kathleen 10 Bigelow, daughter of Scott Sydney 9 Bigelow, etc and Anna Clara (Guide) Bigelow, was born 18 May 1910, Chase, British Columbia,Canada.  On 05 November 1932 in Bangall, NY she married John Newton Post, son of Charles and Nellie (Humphrey) Post.  John Newton Post was born 29 March 1908 at Bangall, NY.  Nora Kathleen (Bigelow) Post died 22 October 1987 at Pine Plains, New York.  They had two children.

1592C.15263    Mary Isabelle 10 Bigelow, daughter of Scott Sydney 9 Bigelow, etc and Anna Clara (Guide) Bigelow, was born 05 July 1912, Wimborne, Alberta, Canada.  On 17 April 1938 at Poughkeepsie, NY, she married Hartford LeRoy Post, son of Harford Marshall and Mary Louise (Madsen) Post, and was born 03 July 1911 at Bronx, NY.  Harford was Repair & maintenance technician for Police Radio communications in Brooklyn, NY and Rapid transit employee.  Mary Isabelle became a Nurse and Homemaker. No children are listed.


1592C.15264      Robert Sidney 10 "Bob" Bigelow, born 26 April 1918 in Canning, Nova Scotia, Canada.  On 15 January 1946 he married Moyra "Molly" Frances Hale in England.  They had three sons.  They returned to Canada where Robert received his Ph.D. at McGill University, Montreal. In 1954-5, he did post-doctoral studies at Oxford University in England.  He then returned to Canada where he joined the staff at McDonald college, McGill University.
     In 1962, Robert received a position as associate professor at Canterbury University in Christchurch, New Zealand. He held this position until his retirement in 1978. He married (2) _ March 1974 Noelle Seyb.  One child?.
     In 1970 he published a book entitled "Dawn Warriors" and also later published a children's book "The Stubborn Bear".
     On 04 January 2000, Robert died at Christchurch, New Zealand. Robert was greatly loved and admired.  He is survived by his wife, Moyra"Molly"; his sons, John (Elizabeth) of Melbourne, Australia; Ivor of Montreal, Canada; David (Tasha) of Christchurch, New Zealand; and Scott of Christchurch; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.The funeral service was held at Canterbury Cremation Chapel, Linwood Avenue, Christchurch, New Zealand,  on 13 January 2000.

Hi Rod, 
I was wondering if the children listed for this individual were not listed with the correct mother.  It is stated that Clara KENNEDY was his first wife, married in 1901 and she is shown as having died in 1917.  Given this it also lists her child Robert Sidney BIGELOW as number 6 of 6, born 26Apr1918.  I guess we can agree that this is impossible... :-)  Then the first three children listed are attributed to the second listed wife, Amy Bernice CHISHOLM, married in ca1917.  These children are born 1907, 1910, and 1912.  Again, you can see the problem.
I would really appreciate it if you could let me know if the spouses should be reversed in the listing on this page, http://bigelowsociety.com/rod9/sco91526.htm  .  Thanks so much for your time.

John was Professor of Philosophy, Latrobe University, Melbourne, Australia.  Elizabeth was a Registered Nurse in behavioral science and a Homemaker.
