Hello Rod
I was admiring the very extensive Bigelow material you have
assembled on your website. I am seeking information on a Joseph
S.Bigelow, who was President of the House of Good Samaritan, 6
McLean St, Boston in 1900. (now integrated into Mass Gen Hospital
in Blossom St, Boston). He might be the Joseph Smith Bigelow
of Boston and Cohasset who figures in your Bigelow list. My
grandaunt Elizabeth Mongan was a patient and died there in July
30, 1925.
I wonder if you might have information on Joseph S. Bigelow's role
and career as President of that now long gone, acute care
institution.
Many thanks
Norman Mongan

Bryant Note:
In August 2007, the Bigelow Society received a note from Anne
J. Allen
from London, UK. It follows:
Transcribing the manuscript Diaries of one
of my forebearers
(Paul Buchenel 1848-1924), I came across the family of Dr.
Henry Bryant,
his wife- Elizabeth Bremmer Sojier-
and their 4 children: (see below)
The diaries refer in detail of the two
summers my ancestor
spent with the Bryants in 1866-67 in Switzerland, neighboring
countries,
and Wales in the UK. Intrigued, I started researching the Bryant
family and
their descendants. It appears that Mary Cleveland Bryant
is the only
one to have issue, still alive today, connected to the Bryants
by marriage
into the Bigelow family - to Joseph Smith Bigelow.
The Diary records in great and amusing
detail
the life of two young students on a Grand Tour. They were given
carte blanche
with a proviso that the older of the two- i.e. my forebear-
would coach John
B. in Latin - in those days a prerequisite if John was to be
accepted as
a pupil in college Latin in Neuchatel, Switzerland. The
Bigelow Society
may be interested in these pages for their archives??.........annepge@hotmail.com
