Abraham 5 BIGELOW

# 1555C.    Abraham 5 BIGELOW,  son of Abraham 4( Thomas 3 , Samuel 2, John 1 BIGELOW and his second wife Anna FISKE, was born 18 September 1762 at Weston, Middlesex county, MA. He graduated from Harvard College in 1782, then read for the law. He settled at Cambridge, where he was a well-known lawyer. He was for many years Clerk of the Court in Cambridge. Abraham was a delegate to the convention for the ratification of the U.S. Constitution. He married, on 22 May 1785, Hepsibeh Jones, daughter of Isaac and Mary (Willis) Jones. She was born 10 Dec 1762 at Weston and died 18 Oct 1817 at Cambridge, MA. He died 06 July 1832 at Cambridge, his wife having died 18 Oct 1817.

1555C.lt      Horatio, b 30 May 1790; d Mar 1824 New Orleans, LA; m ca 1812 (announced in Columbia Centinel, 12 Dec 1812) Anna Maria Ripley. 2 children.

1555C.2      Amelia Hepsibeh, b 25 Apr 1792; d 10 Nov 1865 (aged 73)Boston, Suffolk County, MA; m 17 Aug 1835 Dr. George Cheyne Shattuck (1783-1854), his second wife. No issue.

1555C.3t     Abraham (Commodore), b l4 Mar 1794; d ___ 1861 Chicago, IL; m Louisa __ ; he was a career man in the U.S. Navy, though often furloughed at half-pay. His last command was of the lighthouse and station at Chicago, where he was living in 1850. He retired in 1857. He owned considerable property in the Chicago area. 2 children.
