He was married on 21 September 1908 to Goldia Woodward, the daughter of Henry and Abbie (Rhinesmith) Woodward. She was born 19 September 1892. They lived and farmed in New Haven township until the 1920's when they moved to Hoxeyville, Wexford co, MI where their last two children were born. Ernest's father, Samuel Elijah, was separated from his wife and lived at Hoxeyville with them. Ernest's mother, Amelia, spent her last years in Hoxeyville. Ernest died there on 24 June 1951 and his wife there in 1959. They are both buried in Banker cemetery, Hoxeyville.

"CADILLAC Evelyn May Platz of Cadillac died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001
at her daughters home in Manton. She was 78. She was born July 9, 1923 in
Hoxeyville to Ernest and Goldia (Woodward) Bigelow.
She married Ray A. Platz on Oct. 25, 1940 in Cadillac. M.

CADILLAC - Ray A. Platz of Cadillac died Friday, Aug. 26, 2005 at
his home. He was 85.
He was born on May 8, 1920 in Boon to Oscar and Susie (Porter) Platz. He
married Evelyn May Bigelow on Oct. 25, 1940 in Cadillac. She preceded
him in death.
Mr. Platz had been employed at the Cadillac Country Club and enjoyed fishing,
hunting and camping. He had raised coon hunting dogs.
Survivors include his children, RaeAnn Brown of McBain, Dennis (Diane) Platz
of Cadillac, Leon (Nancy) Platz of Cadillac and Nancy (Dave) Wetzig of Manton;
nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren;
his brothers, Alfred (Lou) Platz and Oscar (Joyce) Platz, all of Cadillac;
his sisters, Edith Edwards, Opal (Bing) Green and Francis Sharp, all of Cadillac;
and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Evelyn, he was preceded in death by his parents;
his daughter, Janet Platz; his brothers, Jay, Orville, Ellis and Herman Platz;
his grandchildren, Colleen Johns, Darrin Platz, and Calvin Wetzig; and recently
his great-grandson, Justin Platz.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac with Rev.
Daniel Hemmes officiating. Burial will be in the Cherry Grove Township Cemetery.
