He was married in 1929 to Ruth Ann Black. Ruth was born 14 August 1910 Miami co, OH, the dau of Alva and Bessie (Gaines) Black. (Black was americanized from Schwartz). They resided in Hoxeyville, MI.  Claude died 14 December 1972 Hoxeyville. Ruth died 10 December 1992 (aged 82) Cadillac, Wexford County, MI. Both are buried Banker cemetery, Hoxeyville, Wexford co, MI.

Maxine R. Evens

CADILLAC - Maxine R. Evens, of Cadillac, died Monday, May 3, 2004, at Lakeview Lutheran Manor in Cadillac. She was 71.Mrs. Evens was born on July 15, 1932, in Axion to Claude E. and Ruth A. (Black) Bigelow. She married Max Evens in Hoxeyville. She was a housewife and enjoyed writing, poetry, gardening, playing cards and going to auctions.Survivors include her husband, Max, of Hoxeyville; children, Carol (Gerry) Shetenhelm of Lake City, Colleen (Kurt) Douglass of Kingsley, Roger (Sharon) Evens of Traverse City, Leslie (Doris) Evens of Fairfax, Va., Arden (Jamie) Evens of Spokane, Wash., and Todd Evens of Harrietta; 16 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.She also is survived by her sister, June (Richard) Baker of Luther; brother, Claude (Pat) Bigelow of Cadillac; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter-in-law, Cindy Evens.Services are 2 p.m. Thursday at Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac, with Rev. Lloyd Jewett officiating.
