Subject: Henry Bryant Bigelow I was surprised not to find any info on H. B. Bigelow, the famous scientist
whom was professor of zoology at Harvard for
many, many years. He was a descendant of Horatio R. Bigelow
and Annie L. Smith. Perhaps, I am just missing something
on your site. It is a great site!
Dr. Bigelow married into the Shattuck family, who were
prominent members of the Boston medical community going way
back to the 1600s.

I have done a great deal of work on genealogy from people
in Economy, Colchester Co., N.S. and I just found a connection to
your Faulkner's.
Ruby Bigelow married ca 1810 David Faulkner, son of Robert
an Hannah (Marshall) Faulkner. David was born 03 July 1786 in
__, Nova Scotia, Canada.
Robert Faulkner was born in 1733 in Medford, Massachusetts
and married Hannah who was born about the year 1745. My
notes indicate that Robert Faulkner was Hannah's adopted
brother. Hannah and Robert came to Londonderry, Nova Scotia
from Medford, Massachusetts in 1762. Robert Faulkner
died February 28, 1813 in Londonderry, Colchester Co., N.S.

Here in Cincinnati, our son Martin Weston Chandler(born

married Teri Jean Bigelow, from the Bigelows of Jamestown.
This is all a
coincidence, but my sister says (jokingly), "Now that
Teri and Wes (Martin
Weston Chandler) know they are distant cousins, they
have to move across the
Ohio River to Kentucky, where your family tree can be
a telephone pole!

WHITEHALL
The people of this village have been greatly startled
by an
almost unprecedented fatality from diphtheria. In the
family
of Ebenezer Murray, seven children have died within about
a
week and the life of the eighth being despaired of. Mrs.
Murray died last summer. When the children were taken
sick they were all kept in one room, and for some time
failed
to receive the care and attention their situation demanded.
The facts becoming known upon the death of the first
child,
several ladies of the Baptist society did their utmost
to
relieve the wants of the family, and were untiring in
their
efforts to save lives.
I hope we can find some more information. Thank you very

Subject: BIGELOW, James Foster "Foss" BIGELOW, James Foster "Foss" - 80, Billtown, Kings Co., formerly of
Blomidon, Kings Co., passed away Wednesday, September
10, 2003, at home.
Born in Blomidon, he was a son of the late James Clinton
and Rosanna
(Hoffer) Bigelow. In his early years, he had been employed
with Harold
Rand and was a mechanic with Saxon Sales, Canning Farm
Equipment and
Scotian Gold. He was later employed in the maintenance
department with
Canada Packers, retiring in 1988. He was a veteran and
former deputy
chief of the Canning Volunteer Fire Department. He was
family oriented
and enjoyed family gatherings, hunting, fishing, camping,
darts and
music. Following his retirement, he enjoyed playing recreational
hockey
as a goaltender with the members of the Canning Volunteer
Fire
Department. He was the last surviving member of his immediate
family. He
is survived by his wife of 56 years, the former Ruth
Enid Cox; sons,
Steven (Deborah), Woodside, Kings Co.; John (Kim), Billtown;
daughter-in-law, Barbara Bigelow, Aldershot, Kings Co.;
grandchildren,
Tony, Jeffrey, Michael, Tasha, Shawn, Christopher, Michelle;
eight
great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by son, James
Robert; brothers,
Lewis and Joseph; sister, Edith Smith. There will be
no visitation by
family request. Funeral service 11 a.m. Saturday, September
13, in W.C.
Hiltz/White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Rev. Karl
Uhrstrom
officiating. Private family burial will take place in
Huston Beach
Cemetery, Blomidon. Family flowers only by request. Donations
in memory
may be made to the Parkinson's Society of Canada, Maritime
