While cleaning out a closet I came across a
small (5 x 7) watercolor landscape bearing the signature D. F. Bigelow. In
checking the internet to see if there might possibly be information on this
artist I came across your web pages. The signature seems the same and the
subject matter appropriate to your examples of his work. I'm sending you a
scanned picture of the watercolor to see what you think.

Daniel Bigelow was born in 1823 at Peru, Clinton County, New York. He moved
to Chicago in
1858, where he became well known as a landscape painter.
Bigelow became one of the associates of G.P.A. Healy, and the group of
artists who founded the Chicago Academy of Design. He died in Chicago in
1910.
