Stephen Van Rensselaer ⁶ BIGELOW

1555E.4 Stephen Van Rensselaer ⁶ BIGELOW, son of Samuel ⁵( Abraham ⁴, Thomas ³, Samuel ², John¹) and Mara (HOWE) BIGELOW, was born 16 February 1803 at Ticonderoga, Essex county, NY. He married, on 02 March 1831, Caroline Hay, daughter of Charles Hay. She was born 16 October 1811. He was a farmer at Ticonderoga, and died there 1875. He was known as "Rance." She followed their son Samuel to Iowa, and died 18 March 1892 Monmouth, Jackson county, IA. Family descendants list six children, of whom we can trace only five.

1555E.41 Charlotte, b early 1830's; m and had a son known as "Eldee."

1555E.42t Henry Hay, b 2 Feb 1833 or 1837; d 4 Apr 1894 Lockport, NY; m Aug 1863 Mary Jane Lewis. 4 children. [Henry's descendants give his birth-year as 1836 or 1837, but on 1850 census he was age 17.]

1555E.45t Samuel Smith, b 31 Mar 1840; d 23 Feb 1925 Gilmore City, Pocahontas co, IA; m Mar 1869 Mrs. Mary Ann Read. 3 children.
