Persis Ellen 8 BIGELOW

15336.515      Persis Ellen 8 BIGELOW, daughter of Hiram 7 ( Cornelius 6 , Paul 5 , Cornelius 4, Samuel 3, Samuel 2, John1)  and Mary (SMITH ) BIGELOW, was born about 1830 at Buckingham township, Papineau, (then called Ottawa), Quebec. She was baptized 10 September 1842 with her brother, Charles, but her birth date was not recorded. She was married to Elisha Newton on 27 August 1855 and he was about 5 years her junior (census records). They farmed near Glen Almond, Quebec, all of their lives. Elisha's death date has not been established, but he was living in 1881. Persis died, a widow, on 17 July 1915 at Buckingham.

15336.5155       Levi, b 29 Oct 1870; d ; unm.

15336.5156       Frederick, b 26 Dec 1872; d 08 March 1913/1915; unmarried.

My great-grandparents were Persis Ellen Bigelow  and Elisha Newton. They came from the United States up
river to Glen Almond, Quebec. I was told Elisha was pure Indian and a Commanche chief. I would appreciate any information
on them. My grandmother was Esther Ann Newton and my mother was Caroline Victoria Bigelow.

15336.5151.1    Caroline Victoria 10 Bigelow, b __ ; d ___ ; m James Stephen 10 Bigelow; James 10 was the son of Sylvester 9 Bigelow and Margaret Lucinda 9 Bigelow.  Sylvester and Margaret m 8 Aug 1893; 10 children; (one source errs saying they were brother and sister, others say cousins). Sylvester was the son of Levi 8 , and Margaret was the daughter of Cornelius 8 ,
