Amasa 5 BIGELOW

16313.       Amasa 5 son of David 4  (Lt. John3, Joshua2, John1) BIGELOW and Editha (DAY) BIGELOW was born 03 September 1733 in Colchester, New London co, CT. He was married there 31 December 1754 to Jemima STRONG, born Colchester 07 April 1738, daughter of Josiah and Hannah (FULLER) STRONG. ( Amasa's brother Ezra 5 # 16315. Married Jemima's sister Hannah STRONG. Their mother Hannah (FULLER) STRONG was a descendent of Edward FULLER, a passenger on the Mayflower.)
In the 1780's they moved to Brookfield, Orange co, VT, where they are found on subsequent censuses. Amasa died there 12 Mar 1811; Jemima on 28 April 1828. They had 13 children born in Colchester; Howe's Bigelow genealogy adds a 14th, Gilbert, but it is generally conceded he was confused by the 11th child, Seth Gilbert, who was known by his middle name, Gilbert.
Amasa Bigelow drew up his will 12 July 1802; in it he bequeaths property to his wife Jemima, sons Eli, Timothy, Justin, and Gilbert, and to daughters as follows: to Otis and Joseph Cary, sons of Editha Cary deceased; Jemima, Lucy, and Polly. Sons Gilbert and Justin were appointed administrators, but Gilbert withdrew, and son-in-law
Samuel Durkee apppointed in his place. Add to his family the following data:

Big Soc has no death dates for either Justin or Percis, who are supposed to have gone to live with one of their children, possibly at Brownington or Barton, VT. They wer living at Barton, VT in 1850.; 9 children, all born Brookfield. This is the ancestor of Charles E. DAME of CT, who relayed the info on the FULLER family from the Mayflower. He is looking for more info on Percis (Persis?) COOK and Justin.
