WHIDDEN, Howard Bruce - Born in Wolfville, October 22, 1945, he passed
away peacefully in the VG Site, QEII, May 30, 2003. He was the youngest
son of Winona and Howard Whidden. He is survived by his sisters, Muriel
McLean and Hilda Allen; his brother, Graham Whidden, who all reside in
Wolfville; many nieces and nephews. Bruce lived in Halifax and was a
landlord, a carpenter, a loving husband, father and partner. Bruce loved
spending time at his cottage on Evangeline Beach, traveling, dancing and
singing. His love of life and generous spirit will be remembered and
cherished by his children, Sarah and Kristopher Whidden; his partner,
Jane Andres, and all who knew him. A memorial service will be held 2
p.m. Sunday in Wolfville Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial
donations to Prostate Cancer Research.
His sisters Muriel and Hilda were members of the Planning Committee for
the 2002 Bigelow Reunion in Canning, NS. He attended some of the reunion
events.
WHIDDEN, David Graham - Bridgewater. Born in Wolfville, September 7,
1927, David Graham Whidden passed away peacefully July 16, 2003 in South
Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. He was the elder son of the late
Winona and Howard Whidden. He is survived by his wife, Colleen Renee
Whidden, Bridgewater; son, Kirk Whidden (wife Denise Aspinall Whidden),
Port Williams; daughters, Mary Ann Whidden (husband Thomas Cosman),
Greenwich; Shirley Irene Vail (husband Allan Vail), Fall River; sisters,
Muriel MacLean and Hilda Allen, Wolfville; stepchildren, Kenny and Keith
Marum and Karen Conrad; many loving grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Margaret Hilda (Kirk) Whidden;
infant daughter, Lois; younger brother, Howard Bruce Whidden. Graham
graduated from Horton Academy, Wolfville, and later served as a mechanic
in the R.C.A.F. He was a prominent businessman in Wolfville for years as
owner and operator of Whidden's Esso and Fuels. He was an active member
of the Wolfville Branch of Odd Fellows, served as a deacon in Wolfville
Baptist Church, and president of the New Minas Seniors Group. Graham
will always be remembered for his generous spirit and loving gentle
manner. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, July 20, in
Wolfville Baptist Church. Donations in memory may be made to Canadian
Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
