BIGELOW, was born at Horton, Kings, NS on 23 October 1806. He married,
in 1834, Sarah M. Whitman (see below).
She was born 26 November 1808 in Chester, NS, the daughter of Abraham and
Hannah (Webber)Whitman, and died on 04 April 1861 at Cape Canso, NS. He
married secondly, at unknown date, Mathilda Publicover. William was Collector
of Excise. William died at Cape Canso on 13 September 1875.

BIGELOW, was born 28 August 1838 at Cape Canso, Nova Scotia. She married
05 January 1860 Thomas Cutler Cook. He was born 20 August 1828 at Guysborough,
the son of Francis and Eliza (Cunningham) Cook. They resided at Cape Canso.
Emma died in November 1899. Thomas had died 05 September 1899.

M. 8 BIGELOW, was born 25 January 1842 at Cape Canso, Nova
Scotia. She married 12 June 1865 Rev. Joseph H. Kempton. He was born at
Maitland,, NS 20 Jan 1835, the son of Jacob and Patience (Freeman) Kempton.
They lived at Freeport, NS for a time. Joseph was a Baptist minister.
He died 05 October 1899. In 1903 his widow lived in Wolfville, NS.

Born on 26 Nov 1808 in Chester, NS.
In 1834 when Sarah M. was 25, she married William Johnston BIGELOW.

iii. Emma Johnson[2]. Born in 1838.
Emma Johnson married Thomas Cutler COOK[2].
iv. Hannah W.[2]. Born in 1840. Hannah W. died in 1842, she was 2.
v. Pamela M.[2]. Born in 1842.
Pamela M. married Rev. Joseph H. KEMPTON[2].

Father of Sarah: Abraham WHITMAN. Born on 10 Sep 1761 in Annapolis
Royal, NS. Abraham died in Canso, Nova Scotia on 14 Mar 1854, he was 92.
Occupation: Shipbuilder.
Came to Canso to start a shipbuilding business; saw it was a better place
to do a fishing business. There were five families in Canso when he arrived.
He would go to Canso in the spring and go back to Chester in the winter
months. Fearing the danger of the privateers of the time, he decided to
move his family to Canso. He brought in a teacher for the children and settled
there. His business built the town's economy and population to over 1600
individuals. He was the "Grand Sire" of the Whitman business in Canso.
In 1793 when Abraham was 31, he married Hannah WEBBER, in Chester, NS.
Born on 19 Mar 1771 in Chester, NS. Hannah died in Canso, NS in May 1847,
she was 76. Christened 14 July 1771 in St. Stephens, Chester

ii. James. Born on 21 Apr 1794 in Chester, NS. James died in At
sea, out of Canso, NS on 19 Apr 1814, he was 19. Buried in unmarked; at
sea.
