"According to dept of genealogy, Boston University, her ancesters include
Col. Chester Bigelow of the union army and "much to my great pride and delight,
Harriet Beecher Stowe!" Her great grandfather was William E. Bigelow,
merchant seaman who settled in Liverpool, England and also the diary and

Joseph 8 Bigelow, was born 08 Nov 1827 Blais Township, Quebec
(1827/28 (census)); d 10 July 1881, McLean Twp,
Muskoka co, Ontario;
1881 age 53 living in Muskoka, Ontario and married
to Elizabeth age 52 with children: Benjamin 19, Hannah 17, Washington
13 and Alexander age 11. Elmer and Yolande Bigelow assumed Elizabeth
was 2nd wife, but not sure. Census also lists Joseph as born in Quebec
and as French. Other information they had said he was born in St.
Blais, Quebec. Yolande said she knows St. Blaise used to be called
St. Blais sur Richelieu and no longer exists. She believes two other
sites may be in the immediate area, St. Jeann sur Richelieu and Iberville.
Elmer is grandson of Washington, son of Joseph. Washington's children
were Cora Schmidt, Wellington Bigelow (unm), Ellen, Joseph, Mary, Roe,
Edward, Lillian, Dolstrom, and Louis Kendal. Louis Kendal had:
Raymond, Wilbur, Elmer M. and Yolande Dube. (She has some dates she will
send if needed). Wife Elizabeth was Elizabeth Lucy Hogg.

I have learned that Joseph Bigelow b 1828, married Lucy Hogg
might of had the parents Joseph and Sarah. Also Joseph might have
moved to Ont from Que to live with an Uncle in the Scugog area after
his father passed away. Does this sound familiar to anyone or do you
have a Joseph that might fit? Thanks Terri

I have been in touch with a granddaughter or great granddaughter
of Washington. Carol Gibson and we are working on Joseph and Elizabeth
Lucy Hogg Bigelow. Lucy and Elizabeth on the census are the same
people. Joe only married once. I would be interested in talking
with you about any other info you might have on this line of Bigelows.
Yours Terri
Joseph's identification as a son of Adam Chester is only supposed.
