More 2:
I believe that I may have created a little confusion concerning the mention of a legal document for Horatio H. Bigelow 1555E.1. I hope this will clear up my error.
The legal document refereed to is the index to the legal documents in Franklin County, Probate Court, Greenfield, MA, Index Book 1812-1825, Franklin Division Probate Court in the County of Franklin - Prior to Jan. 1, 1926, is found in the above index, a guardian petition under surname Bigelow and is listed Horatio Howe's minors (1870). Legal reference is for Horatio H. Bigelow 1555E.15 and not for 1555E.1.  So far this is the only reference to any of the Horatio H. Bigelows having Howe as a middle name that I know of. I believe that the name Horatio Howe Bigelow was passed down from generation to generation just as several other names in this family such as Samuel Smith Bigelow, etc.

(Shelburne Falls) The Shelburne Falls Kidnapping Case - The
father of the "kidnapped" child mentioned last week [didn't see it] is
H.H. Bigelow, who a few weeks previous beat his eldest child, a boy 9 years of
age, in an unmerciful manner. The "kidnapped" child & his brother are the
grandchildren of E. Culver, in whose family they have spent much time during
the past year, & where they have received the utmost care & tenderness, prompted
by the fullness of love and the sanctity of a promise to a dying mother to maintain
watchfulness over her children. Moreover, the youngest child
was "kidnapped" without violence & with the partial consent of the officers
who enacted the solemn farce of arresting the parties in the courtroom. We await
further development"

(Shelburne Falls) Ephraim Culver adopted Wesley E. and Mary
E. Bigelow - names changed to Culver [looks like either their grandfather or uncle
adopted them after the death of their mother, Mary Jane Culver] ;
