There were as number of branches
of the Bigelow Family that settled in Northern NY and Clinton County. The
most well known was represented by Daniel
Folger 7 BIGELOW, son of Nathan
6 (Nathan 5,John
4,John 3, Samuel
2, John 1), and Clarinda

NY, and later moved to Chicago, Ill, where he died. He was born
22 July 1823 Peru, Clinton co, NY. He married 01 Nov 1865 Charlotte (Lottie)
BARNES of Schuyler Falls, Clinton, NY. He died in Chicago __ July 1910.
He was a well known painter of landscapes, and in particular; Adirondack
and northern NY scenery.
Daniel's father was Nathan
6 Bigelow, who was born circa 1793,
probably at Sandy Hook, Washington co, NY. The family moved to Clinton
county, NY, and there Nathan lived the remainder of his life. He served
in the War of 1812, and in 1818 married Clarinda Folger BARKER, born 1798.
Nathan died 16 May 1860 at Peru, Clarinda on 20 June 1870.
There was another branch of Bigelows that
settled in Peru, NY. They were descended from a Nathan Bigelow who never
made it to the North Country, but his children did. This was Nathan
5 BIGELOW, twin son of John 4
,(Joshua 3 , Joshua
2, John 1), and Grace
(ALLEN) BIGELOW, born 8 Nov 1743 Weston, Middlesex, MA. His fourth child
was Jonathan Oakes, born 22 July
1776 Ashburnham, MA; died 23 Sep 1835 Peru, Clinton co, NY; married Philandra
CLARK circa 1800. 9 or 10 children. He and his wife are buried in Peru.
