Joseph Cox 9 BIGELOW

1592C.1163      Joseph Cox 9 BIGELOW, son of  Amasa 8 ( Justus 7 , Ebenezer 6 , Amasa 5 , Isaac 4, Isaac 3, Samuel 2, John1 and Elizabeth (FULLERTON) BIGELOW, was born 25 November 1862 at Medford (Canning, Kings co), Nova Scotia. He married on 05 September 1888 Maude Ambrose, the daughter of George and Jessie (Ellis) Ambrose. They were married in Truro, NS at the Anglican Church (witnesses were Iza Bigelow and Stewart Ambroze). She was born in 1863 at Lower Stewiacke, NS. Joseph was known as "Dapper Joe" with his one glass eye, and was a Farmer and Blacksmith. Joseph died 1937 and Maude died 1943, both at Fort Ellis.

 MacPHERSON, John Stewart "Foo" — 85, Windsor, passed away peacefully on Thursday August 6, 2009 at Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born in Glace Bay, he was a graduate of Morrison High School and a well known athlete locally and at Acadia University. John served in the navy during the Second World War. After graduating from Acadia, John worked as a geologist for 3 years and spent 32 years in education as a teacher, principal and superintendent in Annapolis and Shelburne Counties. John was predeceased by wife, Sara (MacLeod); parents, John and Gertrude (Bigelow) MacPherson; brother, Joseph; and sisters, Lola MacPherson, Maude Vey, and Florence Hallett. He is survived by daughters, Dale MacPherson-Baxter (Toronto), Deborah MacPherson (Richmond, BC), Louise MacPherson (Halifax); grandson, Sean O'Neil (Richmond, BC); sister, Gertrude Drover (Windsor); and several nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St. Glace Bay. There will be no visitation by request. Following the private family internment at Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, John's family and friends are invited to a reception to be held at V.J. McGillivray's Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St, Glace Bay on Thursday August 13 at 2:30 p.m.. On Tuesday August 18, a reception celebrating John's life will be held at Lindsay's Funeral Home, 194 King Street, Windsor, 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. Donations may be made in John's memory to some of his favourite charities: the Arthritis Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Alzheimer's Society Online condolences to the MacPherson family are available through
