<>The first function to take place in the new Lutheran church in
Tyrone, was a wedding.  Thursday afternoon Rev. F. L. Bergstresser, the
pastor was busily employed directing the concreting of the church basement when a Port Matilda couple, William F. Kinney and Miss Annie Pearl Bigelow invited him to leave his task and perform a marriage ceremony for them.  Rev. Mr. Bergstresser asked them to accompany him to the parsonage for the affair, but the pair conceived the idea that they would like to be married in the new church and the pastor readily acquiesced, for he didn't want to get too far away from his concrete.  So, calling upon a couple of workmen as witnesses, Rev. Mr. Bergstresser officiated in the first wedding ceremony to take place in the new edifice.  The bride and groom were pleased at the novelty of it all.  Speaking concretely they had the sand for the occasion, and their union was well cemented.  Mr. and Mrs. Kinney took a brief honeymoon trip westward.  They will reside at Port Matilda.
