Horace Olney 9 BIGELOW


16355.1517     Horace Olney 9 BIGELOW, son of Horace Otis 8 ( Chandler Butler 7 , Otis 6 , Otis 5,  Asa 4, Lieut. John 3, Joshua 2, John 1) , and Mary (PHILLIPS) BIGELOW, was born at Coe Twp., Isabella co, MI on 21 December 1865. Familiarly known as "Hoddy", he was more formally known as "Horace O. Bigelow, Jr". In the West he frequently used "Otis" as his middle name, and it appears on his death certificate. However, "Olney" appears in an old Bible record and in "Nature's Divine Revelations" book; both accounts presumably written by his father, Horace Otis Bigelow.
     By 1887, in Michigan, he had married Iva May Clark, born 09 June 1868 in MI.Her parents' names are not known, but she is said to have been a sister of Ed Clark of the "Clothes-pin Factory Family". "Hoddy" operated a drug store at Shepherd, MI. In May 1901, they moved with their two sons to Aberdeen, Grey's Harbor co, WA, where he worked for the railroad. After a short time there, they moved to Tacoma, Pierce co, WA, and was employed at a lumber mill, and apparently spent the rest of his life there. He died 16 October 1929, aged 63 years. His wife survived him many years, and died 07 November 1963, aged 95 years. Both are buried at  Oakwood Cemetery, Tacoma. They had three sons, all born in Coe Twp, Isabella co, MI.
