This
week at the age of 62 yrs I was informed that I was adopted by
my grandparents, Herbert George Samuel Marriott and Ellen Rose
Marriott. My mother was my "sister". I obtained my birth
certificate only on Thursday, saw my "sister" yesterday and
she acknowledged that I am her son. She met Frederick
Vincent Bigelow when he was in the North Nova Scotia
Highlanders serving in England. She was only 15 at the
time. She told me today that Frederick knew that she was
pregnant but of course he was killed in 1944. I was born
on 12th January 1945 and my grandmother persuaded my mother to
let her and my grandfather adopt me. My newly discovered
mother has loaned to me a photograph of Frederick taken in
uniform when he was 18. You can imagine that
this has been a very exciting week for me. I should be
delighted to hear from you and anyone in the Bigelow family
who would like to contact me and can tell me more about my
father and his family and/or let me have any photographs etc.
I am married, wife Judi, and
have two children, Gavin 25 this month who lives in Spain and
Clare 21 who is still at home. My website will tell you a
bit about me. I hope to hear
