Obituary For Lucy:
Lucy lived in Moroni for first year of her life. Then her parents
moved to Provo and homesteaded on the Provo Bench (now Orem). Lucy
was married to Barney Bingham Boberg Bigelow on October 2, 1909 in
the Salt Lake Temple.
The young couple bought four acres of land on the Provo Bench and
built a home. Barney farmed the land and worked at odd jobs. Jobs
were hard to find. In 1915 they traded for a home on a ranch in
Huntington, Utah. After three years the family moved back to Orem,
purchased property and built the home Lucy spent most of the rest
of her life in.
After the birth of her last child in 1933 Lucy became very ill.
She was taken to the hospital with a ruptured appendix. There were
no miracle drugs in those days and the doctors didn't give her
much hope of recovery. Through faith and a Priesthood blessing
Lucy was restored to health.
All of Lucy's eight children lived to adulthood. Two of the boys
filled LDS missions. All four of the boys served with honor as
officers in the Armed Forces. All eight married wonderful
companions. Seven of the children attended college. All of the
boys and two of the girls received college degrees.
After the children were raised Lucy and Barney were able to travel
through a large part of the United States and also went to Canada
and Mexico. They visited historical sites of LDS Church history
and Washington DC.
Barney passed away December 14, 1958 following a paralytic stroke.
Lucy kept busy serving in the LDS church organizations and in the
Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Finally when she was 94 years old and
legally blind she went to live with her children. After she broke
her leg, Lucy went to live in a skilled nursing home. She remained
cheerful, optimistic, loving, and kind until the end. Lucy died at
age 98.
OBITUARY:
Salt
Lake City, Utah - Deseret News, Sunday, July 5, 2009 - RICHARD
C.
BIGELOW, "Let's Quit & Go Home"
Richard C. Bigelow, 87, passed away Wednesday, July
1, 2009.
Richard was born July 21, 1921, in Orem, Utah to
Barney Boberg and Lucy Amanda Bigelow. He married Emma Ann
Neeley on September 26, 1947, in the Logan, Utah Temple.
Richard was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints. He served a full-time mission from
December 1940 to December 1942 in the Southern States
Mission. After returning from his mission, Richard joined
the Army and served in World War II. Dad was sent to North
Africa but his unit was never deployed off the ship. As a
result of this experience, and having to go by troop ship to korea
later, Dad never wanted to go on a cruise. While in Fort
Dix, New Jersey, he met Emma Ann Neeley and began their
partnership that will continue into eternity
Richard graduated from Brigham Young University in
1950 with a bachelor's degree in secondary education. After
graduating Richard was sent to Korea with the Utah National
Guard. Richard's first teaching job was at Central
Intermediate School in Idaho Falls, Idaho, School Districet
#91. He went on to be principal at O. E. Bell Junior high
and was the first principal of Clair E. Gale Junion High.
Along the way Dad received a school administration masters degree
from Colorado State College of Education. In 1967, he became
the first principal of Skyline High School in Idaho Falls.
He was principal at Skyline until he retired from District #91 in
1984. In the fall of 1984, Richard and Ann moved to St.
Michael, Alaska where Richard was principal of the village
school. They were in St. Michael for three years and then
retired to Salt Lake City. In 1988 Richard and Ann returned
to Alaska to work in the schools in Gambell, a village on St.
Lawrence Island in the Bering Sea. Richard was principal
there until 1994. All of Dad and Mom's work in Alaska was
with the Eskimo children.
He is survived by his wife Emma Ann, children:
Margaret (Michael) Johnson, Richard N. (Tracy) Bigelow, Jean Marie
Bigelow, seven grand-children and their spouses, and 16
great-grandchildren. His brother Sherman Bigelow also
survives him. He is preceded in death by his parents, four
sisters, two brothers and a great-grandson.
Richard loved the Gospel of Jesus Christ, his family,
and his country and served them all with quiet diligence. At
the time of his death, he was serving in his Ward's Sunday School
presidency and as a Home Teacher. He also loved spending
time at the cabin in Island Park, Idaho. Dad passed away in
his favorite chair, in his favorite place (the cabin), watching
his favorite baseball team, the Atlanta Braves. They were
winning the game.
Besides saying goodbye to Mom, the only other thing
Dad would like to have said before he left us was "Let's Quit
and Go Home."
The family would like to thank the first responders
from the Fremont County Emergency Services for their care and
compassion as well as all who rallied around Mom at the time of
Dad's death.

Jean Marie Bigelow of
Murray, Utah passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home on July
6, 2023. It is believed Jean had a heart attack.
Jean was born February 16,1959 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She was
the youngest child of Richard C Bigelow and Emma Ann Neeley, having
both one older sister Margaret and an older brother Rick.
Jean’s parents were educators. Jean’s dad was a teacher and
principal of several schools. Jean’s mom was also a teacher as well
as a school psychologist. This shaped her upbringing as education
was considered important in their household. Her youth was
spent helping with a backyard garden, in music and dance lessons,
and on weekends at the family cabin in Island Park, close to West
Yellowstone. She had birthday parties, lovely Christmases and
everything good parents provide. She loved horses, read Black Beauty
a thousand times, and dreamed of owning a horse, but unfortunately
that was not meant to be. She admired her Aunt Marie, who she was
named after, and wanted to be a nurse just like her; and that WAS
meant to be.
In 1966, her dad became the first principal at the newly built
Skyline High School across town. A few years later, her family moved
to the Skyline district before she entered high school, and she was
always proud to be a Grizzly. Jean got straight A’s (in part
because what else could you do as the principal’s daughter?) and
graduated with honors from Skyline High School in 1977. It was
in her junior high and high school years where she came to love
singing in choirs and developed her love of music that continued
throughout her life.
Jean was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings. No words can
express how important the gospel was to Jean. She was baptized, was
active in singles wards and then regular wards, and served in many
callings, putting her whole self into those callings. She was a
Gospel Doctrine teacher, ward YW camp director, Primary chorister
and also held many stake callings. Jean had an amazing, sharp,
intelligent mind and read thousands of books, but the scriptures
were her favorites. Jean had a powerful and sincere testimony of the
gospel of Jesus Christ.
Although she enjoyed her travels to Spain, Alaska and Hawaii, her
favorite hobby was following all BYU sports, but especially football
and basketball. As a true rabid fan, she spent years in the season
ticket section watching her beloved Cougars. She could hold her own
with any sports fan about any of the players, scores and so on. As
her nieces and nephews became old enough to dance, swim, play
sports, and otherwise perform, she was always there showing support
and being a positive influence. She celebrated all of her extended
families’ birthdays and always gave great presents. Jean was a
stable and powerful support to her nieces and nephews. Her beloved
name bestowed on her by them was “Aunt Fluffy.”
Jean had many good friends who kept her busy going on trips to Cedar
City for the Shakespeare Festival, going out to eat and going to
plays and movies. Those friends were a treasured part of her life,
and their watchful care over Jean is deeply appreciated.
Jean received her Bachelor of Science at BYU and became a Registered
Nurse. She later obtained a Masters degree in Nursing
Administration. She worked as an ICU nurse at Mountain View, Pioneer
Valley, Salt Lake Community and IHC hospitals. Since Jean was
single, she would work nights and many holidays so that others could
be home with their families. For many years, she worked at
Intermountain in administration as head of the Risk Management
division, earning recognition nationally for her work in that field.
She later went on to work for Stewart Health Care and then was with
Holy Cross Health Care at the time of her passing. Her years of
experience in health care made her so helpful to friends and family
members navigating their own health issues–giving advice and
knowledge of the healthcare system, the required care, and
explanations about various physical ailments and pharmaceuticals.
Jean’s parents were an important part of her life, and her
connection to them brought her lifelong happiness and companionship.
Her participation with, support of, and care for her parents was
angelic.
Jean is already and will be deeply missed. She is survived by her
sister Margaret “Meg” Johnson (Mike) and her brother Rick Bigelow
(Tracy), and by four nieces and three nephews. Jean was preceded in
death by her father, Richard C Bigelow (2009), and mother, Emma Ann
Neeley Bigelow (2021). Her reunion with them was surely monumental.
Funeral services will be held for Jean on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at
the Eastridge Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints located at 5235 South Wesley Road (approximately 1100 East),
Murray, Utah. There will be a visitation with the family at the
church building from 10:00-11:15 a.m. with funeral services to
follow at 11:30 a.m.
Jean will be interred at the Memorial Holladay Cemetery at 4900
South Memorial Lane, Holladay, Utah 84117 immediately following the
funeral services. The following pictures, etc will highlight

Lowell Boberg Bigelow

Dan Herbert Bigelow
Cochise Gardens of Rest Cemetery; Benson, Cochise County, Arizona
Doris Bigelow (Robison), of Benson, Ariz., was born on
March 20, 1928, in Denver, Colo. After living in Benson for almost
39 years, she passed away on Jan. 18, 2008, just a couple of months
shy of her 80th birthday.
Funeral services for Doris will be held at the Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel at 381 North Pomerene Road, near
Benson, on Jan. 26, 2008, at 10 a.m., with the visitation at 9 a.m.
Most of Doris' youth was spent in Grand Junction, Colo., daughter of
Emmett and Dollie (Riley) Robison. She is the fifth of six children.
After high school, Doris lived with her parents, helping to support
the family that was by then living in Salt Lake City, Utah. She met
her lifetime sweetheart, Dan Bigelow, on a blind date while
he was attending college on the GI Bill after serving in World War
II. They married on Aug. 13, 1949, and she worked to put Dan through
the rest of college. Doris provided a home and comfort for Dan and
the six children they had, as they moved to accommodate Dan's jobs,
finally settling in Benson.
Doris was devoted to her family and her church. Her children learned
to ask who the cake or cookies were for before diving in for a
taste, as it was just as likely to be for a troubled neighbor or
church function as it was for the family. She worked tirelessly to
maintain a loving but disciplined home. She sacrificed so all of her
children could have piano lessons and lived through the daily
practices to tell about it. She valued education, and her children
never questioned that good grades and higher education were
expected.
She was an avid reader of history, current events, fiction, and
non-fiction. She had the most admirable quality of good common
sense. She could smell a fib from across a football field and her
children soon learned that confession was always better than
maintaining an untruthful story about a misdeed. Doris had a good
sense of humor and taught her children (and quiet husband) to laugh
and find fun in whatever was required.
Doris held several church positions of much responsibility and was
always humbly pursuing them. She was compassionate and fiercely
protective of her charges whether they were her family or other that
needed help.
When their oldest daughter and her husband died, leaving two very
young daughters, Doris and Dan raised their two granddaughters,
Serena Good (Bill) and Sonya Miller (John). There was never any
question that Sonya and Serena would be loved and raised during
Doris and Dan's retirement years since they were part of the family.
She was a loving grandmother and great-grandmother. All the
grandkids and great-grandkids knew Grandma Bigelow loved each of
them "the best." Her kids knew that she loved them but they had
better hand over the grandkids for some cuddles and kisses upon
entering Grandma's house.
Doris is preceded in death by her husband, Dan. She is survived by
her brothers, James Robison, Lee Robison, and Bill Robison; two
sons, Dan Jr. (Marjean) of Portland, Ore., and Edward (Janis) of
Salt Lake City, Utah; three daughters: Kay, Dixie Harvey (Cole) of
Casa Grande, and Dana King (Dave) of Benson, 21 grandchildren and 10
great-grandchildren.
Arrangements under the direction of Richardson's Remembrance Center
in Benson.
