15923.716 Marcus L. ⁸ BIGELOW, son of Israel ⁷ (Israel ⁶ , Isaac ⁵ , Isaac ⁴, Isaac ³, Samuel ² , John ¹) and Margaret (MILLER) BIGELOW, was born in Westmoreland county, PA on 22 March 1834. He married Margaret Anna Davis (family group sheet says "she was supposed to be Indian"). Margaret Anna was born 20 May 1848 in Cumberland Valley (Armstrong co, PA?), the daughter of John and Margaret (Slease) Davis. Margaret was a school teacher. She died in Grapeville, PA (now known as Kittanning, PA.) 25 March 1940 (Mt. Lebanon, Allegheny co, PA?), Bald Eagle National Forest. Marcus L. was a teamster across the country. Rootsweb. com shows a female, M.S.B., born about 1873. Does anyone know who she is?

CHARLES . HENRY . GEORGE. AND FRANK.. I FIND COROBORATING INFORMATION
TWO DIFFERENT CENSUS SHOW ANNA AS HAVING 8 CHILDREN, 6 LIVING...
APPARENTLY THE 2 YOUNGER MALES IN THE FAMILY PHOTO ARE GRANDSONS.
I CAN FIND NOTHING ELSE TO PROVE DIFFERENTLY AND BELIEVE ME I HAVE TRIED.....
WHAT I WOULD LIKE TO TRY IS AN INQUIREY AS TO WHAT HAPPENED TO MARGARET.... ARE THERE ANY DESCENDENTS OF HER AND MR FERGUSON???? I AM GOING TO SEE IF I CAN FIND ANY CENSUS TO CONFIRM HER IN MONTANA

"Willma Bigelow McHugh, formerly of Pittsburgh, Penna., is hoping to locate one or more descendants of Marcus L. Bigelow (15923.726) and wife Anna Margaret Davis, of Armstrong Co., Penna. Together they had 10 children, all born and raised in Grapeville, Westmoreland Co., Penna. Grapeville is on the northwest corner of Jeannette, Penna.

15923.7166 William James ⁹ Bigelow, was born 08 May 1879 in Grapeville, PA (now Kittanning, PA). He married (1) Bertha Trautwine, Married (2) in 1907 to Edna F. Kramer who was d/o Ernest and Minnie Kramer and born 25 December 1880, Pittsburgh, PA and died 05 July 1968 there. William married (3) Lucille Parks. William James died __ November 1944 in Dunkirk, NY. William was a glass worker. Three sons died before son William A. Bigelow was born. These five children were listed on page 540; Bigelow Genealogy Vol II.

Note: Besides the 5 children listed for William James b. 1878 in Grapeville (Kittaning) PA, Reports state there were 4 boys before William A., but this is not confirmed. These would have been by his 1st wife, Bertha Trautwine Bigelow. He married a 3rd time, also, to Lucille Parks who had 3 sons by her earlier marriage, but had no children by William.

Jessica and Bobbi supplied a lot of information to me in January 2003. I passed that info on to Jean Legereit, who added it to database. They had no info on Marcus L. at that time forwarded to me. They may have had further consultation with Jean concerning Marcus and children. Much more work to be done. Marcus L. said to be son of Lafayette Bigelow (some sources refer to Israel L. as his father, so it may be Israel Lafayette; also Margaret Altman as his mother could be Margaret Miller who later married an Altman.) The information that I have is: Marcus L. Bigelow is the son of Dr. Israel J. Bigelow and Elizabeth (Miller) Bigelow. It appears from reading the information I have and talking to Willma on the telephone, we may have a problem with this connection. I've requested Willma to do some further research in county records, visit a Family History Library in her area (where she can get some help from the staff there), and try to contact some other members of her family for help. Also I have Frank M. Bigelow attached to Lewis A. Bigelow instead of Lafayette Bigelow, another problem.
Note: Page 539, Vol.II Bigelow Genealogy, States this Marcus L. was son of Lafayette Bigelow, b. PA who m. Margaret Altman, b. PA. "In addition to son Marcus L., there were two half brothers: Edward? and ________."sic. Source Disconnected branch page 540, Bigelow Genealogy Vol.II.
