Israel L. 7 BIGELOW

15923.71      Israel  7 BIGELOW, son of  Israel 6,Isaac 5 , Isaac 4 Isaac 3, Samuel 2, John 1) and Eunice (KATHAN) BIGELOW, was born at Dummerston, Windham, VT on 20 October 1795. When he was but a boy, his father moved the family to Pennsylvania and settled in Westmoreland county. Israel was a physician and moved to Centre county, PA. His marriage records are scarce, but his first wife was Nancy A Soffer, born 09/06/1794  and died 08/26/1824. (see below) After Nancy's death Israel L 15923.71 married Sarah Miller, born 01/10/1799 and died 08/11/? (reported as Elizabeth and also Martha  see below) Miller, born ca 1784, the daughter of Jesse (Miller) and Elizabeth (__) Miller of Westmoreland county. Israel died intestate in Washington township, about 1842, leaving a considerable family. His widow soon remarried, possibly to ______ Altman (a numerous name in that area). We have no further trace of her (she died between 1856 and 1860, over 72 yrs old) and are unable to satisfactorily name the children beyond the oldest son. We suggest the following who may be his:

 Hi Rod,
I want to correct a mistake that was made on 15923.711t Israel S. Bigelow.  I gave his parent
as Eunice Bigelow 15923.713 that is not true....His parents are the following:  15923.71 Israel L Bigelow and Nancy A Soffer Born 09/06/1794  Died 08/26/1824.  At this time Israel S 15923.711t went to live with his uncle 15923.77t Dr. Eliphaz Bigelow.  After Nancy's death Israel L 15923.71 married Sarah Miller Born
01/10/1799 and died 08/11/?   This is all written in Bigelow family bible records that were received from the Westmoreland Co. Historical
Society.     Also a another mistake made on this line is that Israel L.15923.71  died in Centre Co. PA not Center Co. OH.
The children of 15923.711 Israel Stover Bigelow his child 15923.7119t Israel S. Bigelow is actually Isaac S Bigelow he was also the youngest son.  His birth date was correct as being 01/27/1859.  His marriage date was also correct as 09/29/1887.  The wife listed is incorrect.  His wife was Mary A. VanDuyce of Dubuque, Iowa and one daughter Emily born 04/29/1889.  Emily married a J. M. Dick of Aurora, ILL.  There was also a son Israel who is not listed,  he lived in Bozeman, Montana then moved to Long View, Washington.  This can be verified by history of Dubuque County, Iowa 1911.  The Dubuque Herald Thursday March 22, 1900  the obit of Dr I. S. Bigelow. The Telegraph Herald, December 12, 1927.  The obit of Dr. I. S. Bigelow.   I have all ready sent you a copy of those papers.

I would like the following message posted to the Bigelow query board and in The Forge.

Mary Ann BIGELOW, born abt 1815, married William WILLSON abt 1836.  The family legend says Mary Ann's father and brothers were doctors and did not approve of her choice of a husband.  It is also said that she is related to the Bigelows in the carpet industry and Herbert Huse Bigelow of  Brown and Bigelow.  William and Mary Ann appear on the 1850 Census,
Allegheny Twp, Venango Cnty,  PA;  from here they moved to Iowa.  by 1870 they have three more children:  Samuel Elija- b: 1851,  Israel-  b: 1853, and Lucinda- b 1857.  In 1856, 72 year old Martha Bigleow lives with the family.  She is gone by 1860.  Husband William is no longer with the family in the 1860 Census.  I am eager to find a connection to Mary Ann
BIGELOW.  I have descendent information to share.
