Waldo 8 BIGELOW, son of Lyman 7 ( Gershom
6 ,Ivory 5 ,
Gershom 4, John 3, Samuel 2, John 1) and Jane (BRIGHAM)
BIGELOW, was born at Boxborough, MA on 07 March 1828 and married Catherine
B. Howard on 12 September 1849. She was the daughter of Edmund and Peggy (Beal)
Howard and born at Hingham, MA on 24 December 1828. Lyman's early education
was in Boxborough and Groton, MA. He was engaged in business in Boxborough,
but in 1853 he moved to South Dedham (now Norwood) and opened a country store
becoming very prosperous. He was deeply interested in the welfare of the
Universalist church of which he was a member. The cause of temperance, as
well as all other movements tending to improve and help society, found in
him a staunch and willing supporter. He was thoroughly respected by his community.
He was the first Treasurer of Norwood where he died on 06 December 1886.
She died on 13 December 1901.
