15337.114 John Porter ⁸ BIGELOW, son of Joseph ⁷ (also known as John)( Noah ⁶ , Noah ⁵, Cornelius ⁴, Samuel ³, Samuel ², John¹) and Statira (____) BIGELOW, was born at Leicester, Livingston co., NY on 24 February 1826. At Ripley, NY on 24 February 1847, he married Rebilia (Adelia Sophia) Van Buren who was born in Ripley on 12 July 1826. This family went into IN early in the 1850's and later in life into IA. John died at Manila, IA on 30 August 1901 and is buried at Strawberry Point, Clayton, IA. His widow died on 02 January 1902 at Valley, IA.

I am looking for information on John Porter Bigelow. He is my great grandfather. He was born April 25, 1826 in New York. He was Married to Sophia Van Buren.They had 2 sons Fred A. and LeRoy. LeRoy is my grandfather. They came from New York to Strawberry Pt. Iowa, then went to Missouri, then back to Walnut Iowa. They were one of the first settlers of
Walnut . I know nothing else about John except that he died August 30, 1901 in Manilla Iowa. I would appreciate any information and would share the rest of the family info with anyone.

The things that I have different is that John is buried in Walnut, Iowa and so is Sophia. I have a picture of the stone. Also Sophia died in 1902. That is on the stone. This is the information I have:

Fred Ardell ⁹, b 09 Sep 1861 Strawberry Point Clayton Co. Iowa; d 23 Sep 1928. Buried at Walnut. He was a Flour Miller. He m Anna Thompson (b 1863; d 1949). Both are buried in Walnut. Do not know anymore about Fred.

LeRoy ⁹, b 20 Oct 1870 in Missouri; d 09 Oct 1913 at Walnut. He also is buried there. He married Anna Maude Bruce 12 June 1895 at Walnut. (Anna was b 22 Feb 1872 at Monroe, Jasper Co. Iowa; d 26 Nov 1942 at Walnut and is buried there). They had 6 children. LeRoy was a Pharmacist in Walnut. He had a German Band that he played trumpet in.
