Elizabeth (CUSTER) BIGELOW, was born 24 December 1823 in Madison
county, OH and married (1) on 29 August 1850 Martha Weideman. Martha was
the daughter of Jacob and Barbara ( __ )Weideman and born in Mifflin county,
PA on 25 July 1832. She died 23 June 1869, Mifflin co, PA, and he married
(2) on July 1871 Mary Jane Rackerd (Baker?) who was
the daughter of Nathaniel and June ( __ ) Rackerd (Baker?). Mary
was born in Mifflin county, PA on 11 March 1848. William was a physician
and served in the Mexican War as Sgt., from 1846 to 1848 and in the Civil
War as Captain of Co. C, 45th Regt. PA. Vols. He resided in Stormstown,
PA. 1880 census lists him as being born OH. Both William and Mary (census
says middle name Jane) living at Half Moon township, Centre, PA in 1900
with two grandsons. William Gantz Bigelow died 28 November 1900 according
to application for widows pension filed by wife Mary Jane Bigelow age 49.
She was married to ____ Ross and divorced about 3 years before marrying
William according to same document. Further documents state Mary remarried
to John H. Sones, who died 20 May 1910.
