In Coughran Cemetery in Conway, Livingston County, Michigan there is a
Bigelow:
   Levi 29 Sept 1886 age 69, 2, 27
Mary (wife of Levi) 16 Aug 1876 58 yrs 1 month
Is this Levi any relation to a Bond Bigelow
that lived in the 1850 census of Livingston County, Michigan? NO!!

Recently, a Mike Pratt from Lansing, Michigan, who is a distant
relative
of Howard Bigelow (see your page at /rod7/lev79818.htm>), has called
 my attention
to the fact that Howard Bigelow's name was apparently erroneously
omitted from the official roster lists of the the 12th NY Volunteer
Cavalry as published by the AGO (Adjutant-General's Office) in the
   1890s.
Do you have any additional information on Howard Bigelow?
My web site for the 12th is at
   <http://web.cortland.edu/woosterk/12cav.html>.

The relevant pages on the site are:

  and

I'd love to hear from you if you have any additional information. At
least, I hope that you will find something there of interest about
   another Bigelow.

Here is more about Howard Bigelow that might be of interest to you for
your web site. He served in the 12th NY Cavalry under an alias. The details
were sent to me my Mike Pratt on June 2, 2003. The content of Mike's email
was as follows:
"I had emailed you a few months ago regarding the omission of Howard Bigelow
from the roster of the 12 NY Cavalry. Well, since then I have received the
pension application filed by Howard's father Levi H. Bigelow. It turns out
that Howard enlisted under the name of George Twimbly or Trimby. I see from
your page that Howard served under that name in Company "D". Unfortunately
the file makes no mention of why he enlisted under an alias."
   Kenneth Wooster
   More 02 June 2003:
   According to the pension application
filed by Levi , Howard did in fact serve in the 12th NY Cavalry,
Company D. He enlisted under an alias George Twimbly or Trimby.
He
died 4 Dec 1864 in Newburn, North Carolina. The cause of death was
   listed as Typhoid Fever.
