Joseph 3 BIGELOW
129 Joseph 3 BIGELOW,
son of Jonathan 2, (John 1), and Mary (OLCOTT) BIGELOW, was
born circa 1690 in Hartford, Hartford co, CT. He was married there 23 May
1713 to Sarah SPENCER. Sarah was born 16 February 1688 in Hartford, daughter
of Jared and Hannah (PRATT) SPENCER. On the death of Joseph's father, he and
his stepmother were appointed executors of the estate, and he became a large
landholder in Hartford. In 1722 he disputed the will of his uncle
John 2 BIGELOW, the latter having
willed property to his wife's nephew Jonathan BUTLER, but the appeal was overruled.
Joseph made his will 04 September 1731, and was proved early 1732. He mentioned
wife Sarah, sons Joseph, Elisha, and Josiah; daughters Sarah, Mary, and
Abigail, and kinsman Jonathan WILLIAMS (probably his brother-in-law). The
daughters received L 80 each. Wife and son Joseph were appointed executors
19 February 1732.

1295 Elisha,
b 22 June 1723; d 24 June 1796 Hartford; m Hannah NICHOLS. 12 children.
1296 Josiah,
b 03 Jan 1726; d 16 May 1754 Hartford; m 1753 Elizabeth WELLS. 1 posthumous
daughter.
1297 Abigail,
b 08 Sept 1729; m 03 Jan 1751 Ichabod WELLS or WELLES.
