1294. Mary 4, daughter of Joseph 3 ( Jonathan 2, John 1) BIGELOW and Sarah (SPENCER) BIGELOW, was baptised 02 July 1721 at Hartford, Hartford co, CT. She was married 05 January 1740 to Gideon MERILL, son of Wolterton and Hannah (WATERS) MERILL. He was born about 1716, presumably at Hartford. They lived their lives out in Hartford, Mary dying on 09 March 1750 at age 29, Gideon on 09 September 1757. (More)

Mary was the daughter of Joseph and Sarah (Spencer)
Bigelow. Family records indicate that Gideon and Mary had five
children, 3 boys and 2 girls: Samuel, Nathaniel, Gideon, Mary and
Hannah.
Apparently no tombstone(s) exist at this time. One person
indicated that a grave marker was extant when the book on the
cemetery was written in 1994 and may still be there in the middle
of the north edge of the burying ground near what is called
locally "the Gold Building" on Main Street in downtown Hartford.Family
records indicate that Gideon and Mary had five children, 3 boys
and 2 girls: Samuel, Nathaniel, Gideon, Mary (Merrill) Steel and
Hannah (Merrill) Merry.
Gideon and Mary were my 5th great grandparents. It is exciting to
have found them. His son Gideon (1749-1803), whose burial along
with the other children is unknown, was a participant in the
Revolutionary War.
