16C43.2 George M. 6 BIGELOW, son of Eleizer 5 ( Joshua 4 , Eleazer 3 Joshua2, John1), and Lydia (SPENCER) BIGELOW, was born 02 July 1803 at Harford, Oneida county, NY. He lived in Oneida and Rensselaer counties until the Panic of 1837, when with his brothers, he took up land in Michigan, settling in Springfield township, Oakland county. He owned a large farm, but was a physician in Pontiac, and later in Detroit, specializing in eye treatment. He married, on 18 September 1823, Hannah Locke, daughter of Nathan and Hannah (Goodnow) Locke. She was born 18 February 1802 at Sudbury, MA. George died in Detroit 07 August 1854; we have no deathdate for Hannah, who moved away to live with one of her children.

The above census records note that Alexander Hamilton Bigelow, noted in
the records above as Hamilton Bigelow married between 1860 and 1862
Catherine Caskey who was b. in 1834 in Michigan. This couple had
two daughters who are:
Kate b. 1863 in Michigan
Carrie b. 1866 in Michigan
The 1880 census has Kate b. in California and Carrie b. in Oregon as well
as a different given name for the wife but all ages match when compared
to previous records.

1850 & 1853 John E Norton who was b. 1827 in New York. The children
of John E and Mary Elizabeth Bigelow Norton are:

The census records above indicate Clara Norton was married firstly to ___
Shaver and had the following children:
Ina M b. 1885 in MN
Helen M b. 04 Jan 1887 in MN and d. 23 Jun 1876 in San Francisco, CA
Clare L b. 1890 in MMN
Clara married secondly William C Weld who was b. 1858 in NY. The 1900
census record shows that this was Clara's 2nd marriage and 1st for
William. The records also notes the Shaver girls as his step daughters.
