Fireman's Auxiliary
Our first meeting was held on November 1, 1960
at the Lyon Mountain Fire Station. We had an attendance of twelve interested
members, and the meeting was conducted by Floyd Robinson. Election of officers
was held: President, Peg Bourey;
Vice-President, Shirley Pageau; Secretary, Thelma Carron and Treasurer,
Agnes Robinson. A committee was formed to draw up the By-Laws. The purpose
of the women's auxiliary is to assist the firemen in duties and promote good
citizenship. The membership consists of the wives of firemen. Meetings are
held on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. and the dues are $1.00
per year. The auxiliary has a Halloween Party annually for the children of
Lyon Mountain with prizes awarded to three groups Punch and cookies are served
after these parties. We also sponsor Santa and his goodies at the annual
Christmas Party with donations accepted from local organizations and Father
McCasland. We assist the firemen in their annual barbecue by making salads
and dishing out the food on the serving line.
At present, the auxiliary has twenty-six members.
Each week two members run the concession stand at Firemen's Bingo. This
is done on a rotation basis. This year (1975), we donated $3000.00 to the
firemen towards a new ambulance which is due to arrive soon. In 1974, we
donated $1000 for the same cause. Our present slate of officers includes
President, Anna Kowalowski; Vice-President, Norma LaMountain; Secretary,
Mary Pageau and Treasurer, Yvonne Grogan.
