Bigelow, was born 12 May 1866 at Orange, NJ. She married first
on 15 December 1906 Newell Tilton. Not much known of him but she kept his
name, and known as Olive Tilton Bigelow in art circles. She married
second in 1927 Herbert Clayborne Pell. She was a painter of many portraits
especially of dignitaries and other prominent people, Olive Bigelow 1886
- 1980, was born in Mountain Station, New Jersey. Her grandfather, John Bigelow,
had been a career diplomat, and her husband was Herbert Pell, a foreign minister
in the Franklin Roosevelt administration, so she was very oriented towards
international matters. Many of her subjects were part of the War Crimes Commission
in London in 1944. She also designed posters for the war effort, for women's
suffrage, and other such. She died in 1980 as stated above. 2 children.
