Harriet Munson 9 BIGELOW

16312.7215     Harriet Munson 9 BIGELOW, dau of John Albert 8  ( Edward 7 , Asa 6,  David 5, David 4, Lt. John 3, Joshua 2, John 1) and Harriet (SMITH) BIGELOW, was born 10 December 1872 and died 07 August 1964 at Montclair, New Jersey.  Obituary was in the New York Times.  She was a great grandaughter of John Bigelow, American Ambassador to France under President Abraham Lincoln and at the time of her death resided at 30 Aubrey Road at age 91.  She died at home after a long illness.  Survivors were 2 sons and two daughters.  Surviving also was a sister Mrs. James O'Malley, five grandsons and 8 great grandchildren.  She was also great granddaughter of Asa Dodge Smith, a president of Dartmouth College.  She was former president of the Women's Auxiliary of the Young Men's Christian association. She married 01 June 1897 John Lewis Hildreth, jr. (see below)

My husband is the great great grandson of this John Albert Bigelow.  John's wife was Harriet Munson Smith, daughter of Asa Dodge Smith who was the 7th president of Dartmouth.  I have info going forward about John Albert -- Interested in adding to the Bigelow family page.

John Albert Bigelow married 26 Oct 1864 Harriet Munson Smith, (born 10 May 1844, Hanover, NH; d. 23 Jan 1917; daughter of Rev. Asa Dodge Smith and Sarah Ann Adams). Their daughter Harriet Munson Bigelow, b 10 Dec 1872; d about 1960, buried at Moravian Cemetery, Staten Island, NY; m 1 June 1897 John Lewis Hildreth; 4 children
