He was born 10 February 1836 at West Dayton, Cattaragus co, NY. He was in the Civil War; Pvt. CO. H 14th Ia.Inf. GAR. He died 22 December 1914 and buried in the Muzzy Lot; Marengo City, IL cemetery. Sabrina died 08 February 1920 at Marengo, McHenry co, IL, and buried next to her husband.

According to History of McHenry co, on the 12th of October, 1874, he had tied a rope to his horse around his body so he could put his hands in his pockets and keep them warm. The horse spooked and dragged him to his death.
