# 15337.AA4 Lillie Mae ⁸BIGELOW, dau of Samuel Elijah ⁷ ( William F. ⁶ , Noah ⁵, Cornelius ⁴, Samuel ³, Samuel ², John ¹) and Amelia ( EVANS ) BIGELOW, was born at New Haven, Gratiot co, MI on 28 March 1885. She was married on 20 December 1903 to William J. Brauher who was the son of John Brauher. William was born 31 July 1881 in Gratiot co. and they farmed a few years there and then moved to NE, after which CO. Some time later they returned to MI and William died 08 November 1959 at Lansing, Ingham co., MI. His widow died in a nursing home at Grand Rapids, Kent co., MI 07 April 1972. Both are buried at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Lansing, MI.

I’ve been doing some research into my family tree of late.   I grew up south of Grand Rapids, MI, and remember attending many Hepfer Reunions in Dewitt, MI, at the old centennial family farm on Clark Road. I grew up knowing three of my maternal Great Grandparents. There were also Bigelows at many of the family reunions. One of my maternal great grandmothers was Lillie Mae (Bigelow) Brauher.   I knew Great Grandma Brauher when I was growing up as she was still alive during my teen years. I had heard the stories about Great-Great Grandma Amelia Bigelow and homesteading in NE.   I also have a family photo of Samuel Elijah & Amelia Bigelow and their children, including my Great Grandmother Lillie and probably your great grandfather..
<>My grandmother, Joyce (Brauher) Hepfer, homesteaded in CO with my great grandparents and I have pictures of them and the CO homestead before moving back to the farm in central MI. Also have a picture of Great-Great Grandma Amelia Bigelow on her homestead porch in NE. Also visited Uncle Carl Bigelow in CO late in his life as well as Aunt Elma (one of Carl’s sisters). Heard lots of stories about JC Bigelow, my grandma’s cousins, LB Sweet, etc.   Have a photo/postcard of JC Bigelow in his WWI uniform. Trying to put some perspective on the many stories and pictures my grandmother left us.   I knew a lot of my German ancestry on the Hepfer side, but didn’t realize the link back to England and the settling of the US by the Bigelows.
Anyway, would love to find out more information about the Bigelow Society, any written historical information available (saw some books referenced on the site), and if you ever hold family reunions in the Lansing, MI area. I usually make it back to MI to visit my parents and family at Green Lake, south of Grand Rapids, and would love to make some connections to the Bigelow clan. Appreciate any information or links you can share. Have any of you joined the Society of The Sons (or Daughters) of the American Revolution as we have links back to the Revolutionary War through Noah Bigelow serving in the militia and the Continental Army as a sergeant from 1777 to 1780 (per the web site and military records).
