, and Statira (RANSOM) BIGELOW, was born 15 April 1826 in Waterveliet,
Albany co., NY. He was a farmer and married in Sangerfield, Oneida
co, NY to Antoinette Terry, born 1825 in Sangerfield. Terry Family
Records. She died before 1867, because that year in Sangerfield,
NY, he married Sarah Bigelow, born 1836 in NY State. Melancethon
died 31 May 1901 and is buried in Sangerfield, NY. Mr. Cudliff wrote:
I have a picture of him." He was living with his father in the 1860
NY census and was a farmer. The photo says "wife's name was Harriet."
[was this her maiden name and Bigelow her married name to Melancethon?]
He is not on the 1900 NY census. Mr. Cudliff's map of Sangerfield
shows only an M. W. Bigelow who was living in the center of town (?) 1880.
Antoinette was daughter of Horrace Abbe and Anna (Carter) Terry.
" Mel" died 31 May 1901 at Sangerfield, Oneida co, NY. He had a child by
each of his two wives.
