of John 6 ( John 5 , John 4,
John 3, Samuel 2,
John 1), and Lydia (BENEDICT) BIGELOW,
was born __ 1814 at Broome, Schoharie, NY. His family moved to Richfield,
Summit, OH, where he grew up on the "frontier". On 21 December 1837 at Goshen,
CT he married Harriet Oviatt who was the daughter of Lyman (or Luman) and
Rhoda (Newton) Oviatt. She was born at Goshen 11 June 1815 and died at Richfield
one year after her marriage. Washington's (2) marriage was on the 04 of October
1842 to Nancy Huntley, born 25 July 1823 at Bozrah, CT. (This marriage date
is from his pension application - the Medina county, OH marriage records
give the date of 04 October 1846. With this conflict in marriage dates, we
accept the former). Washington died 02 April 1853 and Nancy on 19 April 1895.
Nancy had previously claimed pension as mother of a deceased Civil War soldier.
