Allow me to introduce myself. I'm Mary Marshall Bates the wife of Richard Fenton Bates whose 2nd great grandmother was Ruby Bigelow, daughter of Amasa Bigelow and Abigail Skinner. In reviewing the Bigelow Family Genealogy  on the Bigelow Family Page, I see that Ruby (1592C.B) and David Faulkner's family was not traced.

I have done a great deal of work on genealogy from people in Economy, Colchester Co., N.S. and I just found a connection to your Faulkner's.
Ruby Bigelow married ca 1810 David Faulkner, son of Robert an Hannah (Marshall) Faulkner. David was born 03 July 1786 in __, Nova Scotia, Canada.
Robert Faulkner was born in 1733 in Medford, Massachusetts and married Hannah who was born about the year 1745. My
notes indicate that Robert Faulkner was Hannah's adopted brother. Hannah and Robert came to Londonderry, Nova Scotia
from Medford, Massachusetts in 1762. Robert Faulkner died February 28, 1813 in Londonderry, Colchester Co., N.S.

Isaac and Mary Sherwood "Lost at Sea"

<>     Mary Rodgers was in her 21st year when she sailed with her parents and her siblings to settle in New Zealand. On the voyage she fell in love with the 30 year old captain of the ship, Isaac Sherwood. They were married when the boat arrived in Wellington. After a short stay there, Mary sailed with him, bound for the Far East.
     Not much is known about Mary apart from the fact that she was very musical. Her new husband bought her a piano as a wedding present and this went with them on the ship.
     On the 9th January 1878 the Wennington, under the command of Capt. Sherwood, sailed from Samarang, Indonesia, bound for Cork or Falmouth. She had a crew of 18 and one passenger. Her cargo of 1,151 tons of sugar had been loaded in baskets, and carefully stowed under the supervision of the captain.  The Wennington was last seen aground in the Bali Straits on the 30th January 1878. Capt. Sherwood subsequently sent a telegram that the vessel had been "got off" and was "uninjured". She proceeded on her voyage but was never seen again, lost with all nineteen people aboard. <>
     The application to marry was dated 6 July 1877 and the parties were Isaac Sherwood, a bachelor, master mariner, aged 30, stating,  “of Wellington New Zealand where he had resided for 18 days” and Mary Rodgers, a spinster, aged 20, who had “dwelt in Wellington, New Zealand for 18 days”. The marriage was solemnised at the Cathedral of St Mary’s, Hill Street, Wellington, New Zealand. Mary’s father gave his consent as she was considered. <>

I have seen details of Capt Isaac Sherwood on your genealogical page. Below is a fact you may not know about him. A romantic tale with a sad end. I wonder whether the family in Canada ever knew he had married in NZ. It may have been a surprise for them on his return.
