BIGELOW, son of Epaphroditus 6(Daniel 5 ,David4, Lt.
John3, Joshua2,
John1) and Sarah
(PHELPS) BIGELOW, was born at Geneseo, Livingston co, NY on 14
May 1837 and married Lucy Hart Brown, the daughter of George and
Mary (Perkins) Brown, on 29 August 1865. She was born on 26 May
1843. Edward was a teacher and educator, Superintendent of Schools
in Austin, MN and President of the Dewey Academy, Troy, IL. He
served in the Civil War, 130th Regt. IL. Vols. and later was
commissioned as Captain in the 93rd U.S. Colored Infantry. Edward
died 01 May 1911, and Lucy Hart died 08 April 1929. Both are buried
in Roselawn Cemetery Champaign, Champaign County, IL (see below)

Cpl. U.S. Army Veteran,
World War II-Mr. Bigelow died in Peoria County on 6-23-2007 at
the Bel-Wood Nursing Home.
Raymond was the son of
Mr. Charles A. & Mrs. Cora Nate Bigelow of Peoria, Illinois,
and was the husband of Mrs. Cecil {Grammer} Bigelow whom he
married in Cambridge, Illinois on September 6, 1952, and she
preceded him in death in 1992, and there were no children.
He is a 1937 graduate of Peoria H.S.,
and was employed by the A. Lucas Co of Peoria before and after
the War, and enlisted in the Army on October 3, 1942
Mr. Bigelow served in the Army from
1942-1945, and was at the Invasion of Normandy, and the Battle
of the Bulge for which he was awarded the Bronze Star.
Awards: Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart
Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, American Campaign Medal, European
Campaign Medal with Five Battle Stars, Army Good Conduct Medal,
WWII Victory Medal, Ruptured Duck Pin.
