Abraham Orlando 6 BIGELOW



16C58.9     Abraham Orlando 6 BIGELOW, son of Luke 5 ( Jabez 4 , Eleazer 3 Joshua2, John1), and Asenath (WINSHIP) BIGELOW, was born 02 August 1812 at Westminster, Worcester county, MA. Like his brother, he early went to Boston and learned the watchmaking trade, and started in business in the firm of Bigelow Brothers, afterwards the firm of Bigelow, Kennard & Co. In 1876, having amassed considerable property, he retired from business. He was well-known in the banking world, having been connected with the Massachusetts National Bank as one of its directors, and its president from 1881 to 1887. He was twice elected a member of the board of alderman by the city of Boston, and twice served in the state legislature. He was a great lover of music and at one time was president of the Handel and Haydn Society. He married, on 07 June 1841, Olivia A. Dodd, daughter of James Dodd. She was born 20 July 1818, and died 31 December 1905. He died 29 April 1887.

Abraham O. Bigelow, son of Luke & Asenath (Winship) Bigelow, was born at Westminster, Mass., May 20,
1809. Like his brothers, John & Alanson, he early went to Boston and learned the watchmaking trade, and
soon after started in business with his brothers in the firm of Bigelow Brothers, importers and dealers in
watches & jewelry; afterwards the firm of Bigelow, Kennard & Company.  In 1876, having amassed consider-
