Eleazer 3 BIGELOW
16C Eleazer 3 BIGELOW , twelfth child,
eleventh son of Joshua 2, (John 1), and Elizabeth (FLAGG) BIGELOW,
was born 14 Mar 1705 in Watertown, Middlesex co, MA. He was married 24 November
1724 in Watertown to Mary FISKE.
Bond says Mary FISKE is probably the daughter of
William and Hannah (SMITH) FISKE of Watertown. Eleazer's marriage is recorded
also in Weston as Eleizer to Mary SMITH. Perhaps she resided with,
or was adopted by some of her mother's relations in Weston, and was known
there as Smith, says Bond. She was admitted from Watertown to Weston church
1723-4 as "Mary FISKE, alias SMITH," giving further confirmation of Bond's
supposition.
They lived a number of years in Watertown, but
in 1742 ( 09 June) they removed with Eleazer's father to Narragansett #2,
now known as Westminster in Worcester county, and became one of the earliest
settlers in that town. He drew up his will 30 April 1758, and named his wife
Mary, sons Benjamin, Elisha, Jabez, and Joshua; daughters, Mary, Ann, and
Esther, and appointed Joshua as executor. To Benjamin he gave Lot No. 6, to
Elisha Lot No. 18, and two meadow lots; to Jabez, Lot No. 44, and to Joshua
the remainder of his estate after all other debts are paid. He died 24 April
1752; his wife Mary died in Westminster 23 February 1777.
