I noticed a posting you made about Ethel Mae Bigelow.  It was interesting to me because of the parallels  between the John Anwyl and the Robert Ellis Anwyl mentioned and my own great and great-great grandfathers.  My great great grandfather was John Ellis Anwyl who married a Margaret who had a son named Robert Ellis Anwyl who was born in 1843. Robert worked in a coal mine in Wales as well as his father John.  Robert came to the US and received his citizen ship by fighting in the Civil war for an Ohio regiment. He also married an Margaret (Enoch).  His father and mother came to the US in their later years and lived in Frostburg, Maryland.  Robert lived and died in Middleport Ohio where he owned a licensed saloon next door to his sister Lizzie’s lady’s fashions and hat store.  Others of Roberts brothers and sisters stayed in Wales where their descendants lived even today. The main difference seems to be that your Robert and John were a generation later than mine.  Robert’s son Isaac was my grandfather and my father was Robert Harry Ellis-Anwyl.  Isaac was a supervisor for Bethlehem Steel in New Castle, PA and my father was a Ceramic engineer and Geologist who was well known in the Brick,Tile and pottery industries in the US.  As I said I am very interested in the parallels and wonder if there is any connection.
