Hi Rod, I saw your site on Bigelow's. If ever a descendant of
James Elbert and Jessie Cochrane/Cross Bigelow gets in touch with you,
can you give them my name. I am doing Cochrane genealogy. Jessie's
parents, from family notes, are Charles and Lianda (spelled several ways)
Van Ornum. Lianda married Abner Cross. I found an obit for him
and it lists Jessie Bigelow as a step-child, and her obit lists several half-siblings.
We do not know what happened to Charles Cochrane, but he is not listed on
his father's intestate in 1879/80. Lianda Cross is listed, and all
of the father's living children. Great site.

See "Forge" January 2002, Vol. 31, No.1, page 17 for article about Bigelow,
NY (area where William Hubbard Bigelow's family settled from Massachusetts
about 1823 when they came in a covered wagon.
There is a small hamlet not far from Richville/DeKalb called "Bigelow".
I visited this spot, but very little info gathered. See Hamlet of Bigelow. Only about 20-25 houses
including Bigelow corners.
