George Washington 8 BIGELOW

16314.494          George Washington 8 Bigelow, son of Roderick D. 7 ( Ira 6, Ezra 5 , David 4, Lt. John 3, Joshua 2, John 1) BIGELOW and Sabrina (UTTER) BIGELOW, was born at Blossburg, PA on 04 October 1829 and on 13 February 1850 married Nancy Caroline Keech. She was born 05 July 1832 in Pennsylvania and was the daughter of William and Johanna (Newman) Keech.  Three years after marriage, George went to California with a covered wagon where he was a blacksmith, miner and sawmill operator.  He returned to Wisconsin and in 1858 took his wife and young daughter Arrilla to California via ship and the Isthmus of Panama.  They settled in Sawyer's Bar where he had been prior, although 1880 census of Siskiyou co., Liberty Twp, lists the family.  She died in Sawyer's Bar on 28 November 1909 and he there on 12 February 1917.  The children of George and Nancy were all born Sawyer's Bar, California except, the 2 oldest.
