VT on 14 August 1830. In 1859 she married David Knowles. David was a
widower. Louisa died at
Northwood, Rockingham co, NH on 09 June 1875 (aged 44 yrs). David
later married the third time to Mary Jane Drew (1836-1923). David
had died 25 Nov 1922 ( aged 94) Northwood, Rockingham co, NH. Buried
Northwood Ridge Cemetery; Northwood, Rockingham co, NH.

Helena, March 11. -- Henry J. Haskell, member of the seventeenth
legislative assembly, first attorney general of Montana, member of
the constitutional convention of 1889 and a veteran of the civil
war, died Friday morning in Glendive. Word of his death was received
here by Speaker Gibson of the house of representatives. Henry J.
Haskell was born in Palmyra, Somerset, Maine, July 20, 1843. General
Haskell was among the oldest members of the Masonic bodies in
Montana. In 1868 he joined the Medician (sic, Meridian) lodge No. 32
A. F. & A. M., at Pittsfield, Maine and in 1885 became a charter
member of the Glendive lodge No. 31, A. F. & A. M. and was past
master of that lodge also. He was also identified with Yellowstone
Chapter No. 5, R. A. M. at Glendive of which he was past high
priest; Damascus commandery No. 4, K. T. of which he was past
eminent commander and Algeria Temple, A. A. O. N. M. S. of Helena,
and chapter No. 5 O. E. S. He was married in June 1883 to Miss
Nellie Towle, native of Enfield, N. H. There were two children, both
of whom died. When Mr. Haskell was Republican candidate for attorney
general in 1892 he was opposed by Miss Ella Knowles, candidate of
the People's party, and defeated her. In 1895 they were married.
Mrs. Haskell, who died in 1910 (sic, 1911), was for many years one
of the best known woman lawyers in the United States. She practiced
both in Butte and Helena. (They later divorced.)

Henri J. Haskell - a farmer, aged 18, born at Palmyra - enlisted in
Company B, 1st Regiment Maine Cavalry as a private and mustered in
at Augusta on September 22, 1862. He was discharged from service as
a corporal from the Cony U. S. Hospital at Augusta on July 12, 1865.
He was wounded on October 26, 1864 at Boydtown Plank Road, Va., and
also March 31, 1865, at Dinwiddie Court House, Va, suffering a
gunshot wound to his right breast just nine days before Lee's
surrender at Appomattox.

Died--On Friday, Dec. 9, 1887, Nelle, wife of H. J. Haskell, aged 22
years and two months.
Infant Haskall, on Friday, Dec. 9, 1887, infant son of Mr. and Mrs.
H. J. Haskall, aged 9 days.
The bereaved husband has the sympathy of the entire community in
this great affliction. The funeral services will take place tomorrow
afternoon at 2 o'clock.
