     1.6  Horace M. Bigelow was born in Salisbury, Litchfield Co., CT, 1824 (tombstone shows 24 January 1821, an impossibility if birth date for his brother James is correct). He married (1) 15 Apr 1846 Mary Coup (Coop?) in Portage Co., OH. She died about 1853 (1855 in Howe) and Horace then married (2) 19 Mar 1857 Sarah Jane Michaels (10 Mar 1837-5 Jan 1909). He worked as a laborer (farm?) in Streetsboro Twp. (1850), then as a farmer in various places: Vanlue, Amanda Twp., Hancock Co., OH in 1860; Rollin, Lenawee Co., MI in the early 1860s; near Cass City, Elkland Twp., Tuscola Co., MI by 1870. In 1872, he received a land patent for 160 acres north of Cass City, then a frontier heavily forested with white pine. He may have farmed near Genoa, Ottawa Co., OH about 1876-1878. By 1880, he was in Oak Harbor, Salem Twp., Ottawa Co., OH, where he apparently farmed and served as Street Commissioner for several years. He may have lived in Toledo, Lucas Co., OH in 1890. He died 6 Jun 1893, probably in Oak Harbor, and was buried in Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor as is Sarah Jane Bigelow. 1.6.3  Helen Bigelow was born 12 May 1850 in Streetsboro Twp., Portage Co., OH; no further record of her has been found. (U.S. Census 1850; Horace M. Bigelow Family Bible)

1.6.4  Dow Bigelow was born 03 July 1851, probably in Streetsboro Twp., Portage Co., OH and died 22 Nov 1900 in Vassar Twp., Tuscola Co., MI, where he had farmed. He married Eliza J. Ritter about 1875 and she was born Jun 1851 in Canada. He apparently was named after an early 19th century evangelist, Lorenzo Dow. Eliza Bigelow still lived in Vassar Twp., in 1910 with her children James, Sarah, and Edna and her mother, Sarah Ritter. (U.S. Census 1860, 1880, 1900, 1910; Horace M. 1.6.4.1  Alfred N. Bigelow was born May 1877 in Ohio. (U.S. Census 1900)

1.6.4.2  Charles P. Bigelow was born 25 Apr (May?) 1887 in Cass City, Tuscola Co., MI. He married about 1912 Elsie M. _____. He was a farm laborer in Tuscola Twp., Tuscola Co., MI, in 1910 and lived in the village of Roseville, Erie Twp., Macomb Co., MI in 1930. In 1917, he wa foreman for the M.C.R.R. Co. in Hamtramck, MI. 1.6.4.3  Meral S. Bigelow was born 6 Apr 1889 in Cass City, Tuscola Co., MI. In 1917, he was married, lived in Flint, MI, and worked as a fireman at the Oak Park Power Plant there. (U.S. Census 1900; World War I draft registration card [Meral S. Bigelow])

1.6.4.5  Sarah B. Bigelow was born January 1897 in Michigan (U.S. Census 1900, 1910).

1.6.4.6  Edna J. Bigelow was born March 1899 in Michigan (U.S. Census 1900, 1910).

1.6.5.  Mary Ann Bigelow was born 20 Dec 1858 in Ohio, probably Vanlue, Amanda Twp., Hancock Co. and died of typhoid fever 16 (26) Aug 1880 near Genoa, Clay Twp., Ottawa Co., OH. She married 29 Sep 1877 John Wesley Heald (30 Sep 1853-26 Jan 1888). John and Mary Ann Heald lived on a small farm in a crossroads called Dogtown, about 1 mile NW of Genoa.. (Horace M. 1.6.5.1  Samuel Ervin Heald was born 17 Jun 1877 in Dogtown, Clay Twp., Ottawa Co., OH and died 20 Feb 1959 in Woodstock Twp., Lenawee Co., MI. He went by the name Ervin Hale and all official records use this name. He married 29 Jul 1903 Maude Bense (8 May 1883-29 May 1940) in Oak Harbor, Ottawa Co., OH. She also went by the name of Hale after the death of her parents. 1.6.5.2.7  Oran Cashen  was born 28 Jan 1912 in Genoa, Clay Twp., Ottawa Co., OH and died 13 Dec 1982 in Port Clinton, Ottawa Co., OH of a heart attack. He married 22 Feb 1946 Velma Hoffman (1920-24 May 1990). They had four daughters, Nellie, Susan, Linda and Sandy, and one son, Timothy. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, then worked at the Erie Army Depot until 1965 and then owned and operated Cashen’s Electric Motors in Port Clinton.
