Children of John and Sarah (Bigelow) Tiffany, all born Wayne county, PA:

14263.11     Mary, b.August 3,1813,  d. South Gibson, PA., February 9, 1888; m. in Pleasant Mt, May 25, 1841, William Pickering, b. Gibson, Pa., December 27,1819; died there September 15, 1883. William was a son of Preserved and Anna Whitney Pickering  of Gibson. Preserved , b.8-29-1795,  was a son of Jotham and Alsie Pickering,  who came from Mass. to  Gibson, Pa. in 1796. Jotham served in the Revolution, William served in the Civil War.

14263.12     Sally, died young.

14263.13     Hiram, b. August 19,1816. d. in Gibson, April 18, 1878.  Married Mary Lucinda Perham, b. Mt. Pleasant, Pa., September 20,1819.

14263.14     Sally,second, died unmarried.  Beers says Sally 2nd , m A Wright and lives in West Virginia.

14263.15     Minerva, b. July 13, 1820, was a resident of Pleasant Mt.

14263.16     John Sheldon, b. April 22, 1822 , married in Gibson, February 17,1847, Harriet Adelaide Whitney,., b. Gibson, November 9,1828, daughter of Thaddeus  Whitney, b.Conn.12-2-1790, d. Gibson 7-24-1860; and Thurza Washburn, b.New Milford, Pa. December 3, 1800, and d.March 18, 1871.  Mr. Tiffany lived in Gibson until 1853  , after which he settled in Pleasant Mt.

14263.18     Oliver, lived and died in Pleasant Mt.never married.

John Tiffany, born, Attleboro, Mass., August 10,1784 son of John and Ruth Clapp
Tiffany, married in Pleasant Mt., Pa., April 28, 1812, Sarah (Sallie) Bigelow, born March 29,1784, at Spencer, Mass., daughter of James ⁵ Bigelow and Mary Graham Bigelow. Sallie died Sept 2, 1848, John died November 16, 1853  both in Pleasant Mt. and are buried there. John, on October 14, 1850 married Elona Blanding, born 1804, daughter of Joseph and Hulda Martin , who settled in Harford, Pa., from Mass. in 1795. Elona, after the death of John, married Solomon Sherwood of Pleasant Mt

Great Bigelow Family Story. I was led to it by Don Wrighter in his search for Wrighters Lake,Wayne/Susq. Co., Pa.
Hozea Tiffany and family and John Tiffany and family of Attleboro, Mass.; on their way to Nine Partners (Harford, Pa), in 1792, stopped in Pleasant Mt. Pa, over a Sunday, to visit the Sam Stantons . John was so pleased with the area, he immediately bought land  and  built a cabin, a barn and the first frame house in Pleasant Mt.  All Tiffanys are carpenters. Hozea went on to Harford  and settled on land he had bought and built on in 1790 and became my GGGGgrandfather.
James ⁵ Bigelow ( he was a blacksmith) , his wife and family, settled  at Pleasant Mt.in 1808. at what is now Bigelow  Lake.   James ⁵ Bigelow had a daughter Sallie (Sarah ⁶ ), John Tiffany had a son John, and the two married in 1808. A rather unreliable source, claiming descent from John and Sallie, says Sallie was 24 and John 25 when they married. I  don't know. John and Sallie had six children and I am sure they are all noted in your Genealogy. I found John and Sallie but will save the rest for another day.
Many Tiffanys descending  from and including Sgt John sr, (Rev. war) are buried in the Pleasant Mt. cemetery, but at this time I do not think there are any residents. The Bigelows, on the other hand , still reside and farm in the black muck soil, the result of enlarging Bigelow Lake, and I wouldn't be surprised to find  at least one blacksmith living on the farm.
Pleasant Mt. is some 15-20 miles from my residence in Carbondale, PA. I look forward to spending time with your wonderful Bigelow Web Pages.

She died in South Gibson, PA 9 Feb 1888.  On May 25, 1841, she married William Pickering in Pleasant Mt.  William was born in Gibson, PA, 27 Dec 1819 and died there Sep 15, 1883.  He was son of Preserved and Anna (Whitney) Pickering of Gibson.  Preserved was born 29 Aug 1795, son of Jotham and Alsie Pickering who came from MA to Gibson, PA in 1796.  Jotham served in the American Revolution and William served in the Civil War.
