Samuel ⁷ BIGELOW

16163.94 Samuel ⁷ BIGELOW, son of Samuel ⁶( John ⁵, John ⁴, Joshua ³, Joshua ², John¹) and Electa (WILDER) BIGELOW, was born at Conway, Franklin, MA on 12 March 1819. We know little of his spouse, except that her name was Calista Look (see below) and born about 1818 in MA. They married on 11 October 1843. According to the 1850 census, we find Samuel listed as a plainmaker, age 21, and Calista as age 22. Either a mistake was made by the census taker or the young folk lied about their ages. To make things more puzzling, also in the household is Austin, age 9! We know that there is an Austin listed as being born at Conway in August of 1843. Could this be a brother of Samuel's and not his son and only visiting when the census was taken? With this conftising data, we offer as:

Notes in book (page 181) asks if the Austin listed in the household, age 9 in the 1850 census, born 8 Sep 1840 s/o Silas and Electa (Bigelow 16163.96) Bigelow 16163.39., R11347 and 11350 respectfully. Electa would have been this Samuel's sister, children of Samuel and Electa (Wilder) Bigelow and the Austin mentioned would be Samuel (16163.94's nephew, son of his sister Electa). He was age 9 or 10 in 1850. His mother had died in 1847, So the Austin listed on page 181, 16163.941 is most likely, the same as Austin listed on page 179, 16163.391.
