191    James 3 BIGELOW , son of  James 2, (John 1), and Elizabeth (CHILD) BIGELOW, was baptised at Watertown, Middlesex co, MA. on 06 May 1688. He was married at unknown date to Mercy ___ . He died at Casco Bay 9 Sept 1718, leaving one daughter. his widow married (2) 28 Jan 1712 at Concord, MA, John ANDROS of Killingly, CT..

Only child of James and Mercy ( ___) BIGELOW:

1911      Patience, b 25 June 1717 Weston, MA; d 1798 Simsbury, CT; m 24 Jan 1733 Killingly, CT Samuel LAWRENCE. 11 children.

     Town records of Weston, MA include a long explanation of the altering of the date of Patience's birth, based on the mother's having recorded the child's birth as 1716, then discovering some years later (date not given) that her marriage certificate proved the mother still unmarried at the time, the date must necessarily be one year later, i.e. 1717. Therefore the clerk altered the town records, and as late as 1736 added the note of explanation.
